Low-key big living

Tue Review 31 May 2016

Tomorrow is launch day! I’m not as ready as I would like to be, but I’m more ready that I need to be. That’s good enough. If I wait until I’m ready I’ll be waiting forever and I’m not going to choose perfectionism over productivity. Well, not in this instance.

Hubby mentioned something amazing over the weekend: he would be willing to go nomad for 12 months!  Have I been sending messages that are so subliminal that I didn’t even realise I was sending them? Okay, I was aware of some (heh heh!) but I also think international real estate programs have been influencing his thoughts. It’s all good news because it means he’s thinking about what he really wants from life and anything that spurs someone to have those thoughts is to be encouraged!

I had a little epiphany of my own. One thing I don’t like about pure nomadic living is the focus on one’s self. I’m all for self-ownership, self-discovery and self-awareness but a lot of travel blogs focus on nomadic living as a way for an individual to get the most out of what the world offers without much attention given to how to give back to the world. As someone with a long history of volunteering and donating to charities, I have wondered that if we travelled in the style I would want to (i.e. moving around on contracts of 3-6 months at a time), how could I be a good global citizen? Money would be tight, so we wouldn’t want to set up a charity direct debit, and we wouldn’t be in one place long enough to be able to commit to long term volunteering.

However, we will be online. That’s where I can volunteer. When the time comes to start travelling I can offer my skills online for free. I’ll be giving wherever I go!

Goal Check!

Brain Goal: I will read 5 books by Christmas.
Action: Still failing this. Every spare minute has been either blog prep or visitor prep. I can’t see this changing for at least a few weeks.

Body Goal: I will exercise for 30 minutes every day, outside when the weather permits.
Action: Fell out of routine when the migraine hit, but I should be back into routine now.

Soul Goal: I will visit 12 new places by Christmas (only 3 to go)
Action: Two weeks until Glendevon, Scotland! Also thinking about a weekend in Denmark in July, but that’s still just a thought in process.
